The South Lanarkshire-based golf club made the decision to sell the portion of land next to the first hole at its Glasgow Road site to help fund the relocation and modernisation of its current greenkeeper’s accommodation.
The 1.92-acre site is located on the south-eastern corner of the course overlooking the first fairway and has been earmarked for housing within the South Lanarkshire local development plan.
The local council has already been approached by Ross Woods Architects regarding the principle of a residential development that would include around 19 new apartments.

Real estate services and investment management specialists JLL is managing the sale on behalf of the golf club.
Interested parties are encouraged to contact South Lanarkshire Council’s planning department to discuss their development proposals.
“Strathaven has a thriving local community which will benefit from any additional development ensuing from the sale of land at the golf club,” said Nina Stobie, director at JLL.
“The opportunity to develop new housing on this prime greenfield site is likely to attract significant interest, and we look forward to engaging with the council, developers and the local community as we progress with the sale.”
